Governor Cuomo just announced NYS is partnering with Headspace to offer free meditation and mindfulness content for all New Yorkers as a mental health resource for an initiative called "A NY state of mind." New Yorkers across the state can access a specially curated collection of science-backed, evidence-based guided meditations, along with at-home mindful workouts, sleep and kids content to help address rising stress and anxiety. The Staten Island Business Outreach Center works with low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs so they can grow their businesses. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) continues to help small business owners and entrepreneurs pursue the American dream. SBA is the only cabinet-level federal agency fully dedicated to small business and provides counseling, capital and contracting expertise and the nation's only go-to resource and voice for small businesses.

Staten Island Economic Development Corporation 
The Staten Island Economic Development Corporation advocates for economic development by promoting public and private investment and encouraging responsible and sustainable development. The SIEDC has been responsible for over $550 million in new investment, the creation of over 3,500 jobs and the development of over 1,000 acres of vacant industrial land by providing assistance to developers and companies implementing projects on Staten Island. They also work with small entrepreneurs and small business owner with tailored financing, procurement and real estate assistance. The SIEDC is located at 900 South Ave., Suit 402. 718-477-1400

SCORE-Staten Island
SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground. through education and mentorship. They have local mentors across all industries, inexpensive or free workshops and online webinars. SCORE volunteers are working and retired executives and business owners, who donate their time and expertise on a volunteer basis. Walk-ins are welcome on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon in the offices of the Staten Island Advance, 950 Fingerboard Rd. Meals on Wheels of Staten Island is leading the effort to make sure the elderly people in our community receive nutritious meals and the human connection they need to help them live independently. They currently serve over three-quarters of a million meals per year to our clients. They currently serve over three-quarters of a million meals per year to their clients. Meals on Wheels delivers two meals (one hot and one cold) each day, five days a week between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., except for major holidays. Those frozen meals can be delivered on Saturday morning for weekends.

The American Legion

For approved programs, the Post-9/11 GI Bill provides up to 36 months of education benefits. Helping you determine where you’d like to apply your GI Bill benefits; to college classes or an on-the-job training program, or transfer unused benefits to your dependents. 

After Service: Trade School & Benefits
GI Bill benefits not only can be used for degree-producing programs, but also for non-degree programs, such as vocational or technical career training.
