Borough President Vito Fossella & District Attorney Michael McMahon Thank Police Officers For Heroic Actions

Borough President Vito Fossella and District Attorney Michael McMahon had the pleasure of thanking Police Officers Joe Nobile and Joni Tsulaia for their quick-thinking and heroic actions in preventing a passenger from jumping off the Staten Island Ferry and into the frigid waters below on March 14.

When the partners, who were on their first patrol together, spotted the passenger attempting to jump over the railing, they joined together to pull him back to safety.
In saving the passenger’s life, they showed a selflessness that we should all emulate -- and they honored their oath to serve and protect.
