Today, Borough President James S. Oddo has announced a new social media campaign called “Getting Good Deeds Done” to showcase the good deeds of Staten Islanders that may fly under the radar. The Borough President and his team are asking Staten Islanders to submit videos and/or photos of being a good neighbor; whether that is shoveling snow, cleaning up litter, checking in on someone in need, or anything else that shows you care. While the borough continues to battle the effects of this pandemic, the Borough President says it’s important to highlight good people just doing good things.
“We know there are people who live in our borough that go the extra mile to make someone else’s day better,” said BP Oddo. “We want Staten Islanders to know it is their time to show us what being a good neighbor is, and plant that seed for the future generation to follow. No good deed is too small if it helps a fellow Staten Islander, and is a win for the whole borough. We know you are out there doing good things and we’d love to show that.”
The office especially encourages families to submit videos and photos while students are home over winter break next week. All materials will be compiled into one video which will be posted across the Borough President Office’s social media pages at the end of the campaign. Constituents can follow the office on Facebook (@StatenIslandUSA), Twitter (@StatenIslUSA), and Instagram (@StatenIslUSA).

Video and photo submissions will be accepted until Monday, March 15th. Please send submissions to Renee Sarno at RSarno@statenislandusa.com.
