Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the fastest-growing developmental disability in America today. While parents of children with ASD often learn early on what kind of treatment and services are needed, it can be difficult to gain access to them. It is crucial that effective services, treatment, and education for children and adults with ASD are accessed as quickly as possible. The earlier they receive appropriate services, the better the prognosis.

To help parents take action after their child has been diagnosed with ASD, Staten Island Borough President James P. Molinaro formed The Borough President's Committee on Autism that is made up of representatives of Staten Island autism service organizations. Borough President Molinaro, together with the committee, has created Staten Island’s first-ever comprehensive resource guide to autism services in the Borough.

“I am pleased to announce that the Borough President’s Committee on Autism, which consists of members of my staff and the Island’s autism services providers, has produced a comprehensive resource guide that contains detailed contact information for autism organizations on Staten Island that offer services to both children and adults,” said Molinaro. “Finding the right place for autism treatment and services can be a difficult process, but we hope that this handy booklet will help make that journey easier.”

In addition, the Borough President has allocated $5M in capital funds to support major facility improvements at Eden II, The Grace Foundation, and On Your Mark.
