Made on Staten Island • Staten Island Borough President's Office
Staten Island is open to the film business and has been for many, many years. With Broadway Stages – a major production company and soundstage with a location in Brooklyn - on their way, our borough is poised to become a leader in the film industry. Our office is committed to this industry and is here to help foster its growth.
Film + TV Office
The Borough President has created the Film & TV Office to assist filmmakers, location scouts and others in accessing Staten Island as a location for films, TV shows, commercials, music videos and documentaries. We have become very attractive to production companies for many reasons. In addition to the state’s tax break for local filming and Broadway Stages heading to Charleston in the very near future, Staten Island is home to thousands of locations from beaches to suburban streets to parks to college campuses to historic homes to bustling urban streets.
How Our Office Can Help
The staff of the Communications and External Affairs Department are available to assist not only production companies and location scouts, but Island organizations to facilitate positive filmings in our borough. The Office is a clearing house for filming, maintaining requests, film location lists, a calendar of filming when possible, and functions as a liaison between film companies and organizations that have identified themselves as film friendly.
The Mayor's Office of Film and TV production has created a vendor program to encourage productions to use local businesses. The program, called the "Made in NY" Discount program, entitles bona-fide productions to a 10% discount when they shop at enrolled businesses. It can be accessed at www.nyc.gov/html/film/html/production_resources/card.shtml
We urge Staten Island businesses to enroll in this program to ensure they get the business when filming occurs here.
The "Made in NY" Discount Card opens an opportunity to great savings and special offers for film industry professionals at many of New York City's most popular retail and service establishments, including hotels, restaurants, car rentals, health clubs, automotive services and more! Applications for the "Made in NY" Discount Card can be found online on the website of the Mayor's Office of Film and Television and Vendor Agreement forms can either be faxed to 212-307-6237 or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
The NYC Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting issues permits to productions filming on location in the City of New York – including Staten Island - and provides free police assistance, free parking privileges and access to most exterior locations free of charge.
