B.P. Molinaro Congratulates Port Authority on Mother's Day Weekend Toll Plaza Operations

“We Asked for All Green Lights at the Toll Plaza – and That’s What the PA Delivered”

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Borough President James P. Molinaro today complimented the Port Authority and its Executive Director Chris Ward for the relatively smooth conditions at the Outerbridge and Goethals Bridge toll plazas on Mother’s Day weekend.

“By fully staffing the toll booths, traffic backups were significantly reduced,” said Molinaro. “We asked for all green lights at the toll plazas, and that’s what the Port Authority delivered.

“Chris Ward continues to do an outstanding job at the Port Authority,” Molinaro added. “He took responsibility for the traffic debacle on Easter Sunday. He pledged to fix it come Mother’s Day, and, thanks to his hands-on leadership, he did.

“The Port Authority was in communication with my office every two hours this weekend keeping us apprised of the toll plaza conditions,” Molinaro continued. “We have excellent communication with the Port Authority, which I’m confident will lead to smooth sailing at toll plazas on holidays going forward.”
