Borough President Molinaro to join morning commuters on bus to Bayonne for PATH train connections to Manhattan

Molinaro Providing Free Round-Trip Bus Rides from CSI Campus

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Borough President James P. Molinaro will be riding with morning commuters on Thursday, December 22nd on one of the free shuttle buses that he is providing to help Islanders get to their jobs in Manhattan during the transit strike. Molinaro will board the first bus at 7:00 a.m. at the College of Staten Island (CSI) parking lot 6 and 7. The College is located at 2800 Victory Boulevard in Willowbrook.

Molinaro is providing free, round-trip Atlantic Express buses that pick up commuters at the CSI campus and take them to Bayonne’s 34th Street park-and-ride. From there they can take the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to Exchange Place and transfer to the PATH train to the World Trade Center. Uptown commuters can continue on the Light Rail to the Pavonia Newport PATH station and transfer to the train that stops at Christopher Street, Ninth Street, 14th Street, 23rd Street and 33rd Street-Penn Station.

Two buses depart the CSI campus at 7 a.m., and another two buses depart at 8:30 a.m. For return trips in the evening, the buses depart Bayonne’s 34th St. park-and-ride at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and drop off passengers at CSI.

Molinaro said his office is renting the coach-style buses with discretionary funds at $800 per day each, and can continue to do so for about a week before the cost reaches the $10,000 limit that requires competitive bidding on a contract.
